For more than a decade, I was looking for something. I didn't always call it that. Sometimes it looked like therapy. Sometimes meditation, or energetic work, or coaching, or writing things down at midnight because I couldn't sleep until I did. Sometimes it looked like a stack of books by my bed, or a crystal I couldn't put back on the shelf.
Every chapter taught me something. Every chapter brought me closer to myself. But somewhere along the way, I forgot that growth isn't supposed to come from believing you're never enough. I was doing all this "work" and quietly treating it like a debt I owed — like I'd be worthy once I finished healing, once I finally arrived somewhere.
Here's what actually brought me back to myself, over and over, when nothing else did: wonder. The books that made me cry. A crystal that caught the light just right and stopped me mid-step. A trail that made me stop walking. The night sky, wide open and unbothered by streetlights out here. A game of softball. The small, stubborn reminders that life is still magical, even on the days I couldn't feel it.
Three Things That Were Always One Thing
For a while, I ran three separate businesses. Kalahari Crystals. Aletheia Awakening. All the Books Read. I thought of them as different parts of my life — different audiences, different feeds, different versions of me.
They were never really separate.
Kalahari Crystals came from a childhood of collecting mica and quartz — rocks I'd find around the house, long before "nice" crystals were something I sought out or sold. Aletheia Awakening held the inner work, the reflection, the practices that helped me meet myself honestly. All the Books Read was the stories that cracked me open and put me back together differently.
Three names. Three feeds. One search, the whole time.
Why Mica
I grew up near a bunch of mica mines/basins in New Hampshire, collecting mica as a kid — thin, papery sheets that flake apart in your hands if you're not careful, catching the light in a way that always stopped me for a second.
Mica forms in layers. Like we do.
That felt true in a way I couldn't quite explain until I tried to name this new, unified thing. I thought about Mica and Moonlight for a while — I find so much magic in moonlight — but it wasn't quite right. Then, driving home one ordinary day, a hawk flew past my windshield, close enough that my breath caught. And it was magic, plainly and immediately, no work required to see it.
That's when it clicked. Mica Magik. When someone finds Mica Magik, I want them to feel exactly that — the startle, the notice, the oh. To be reminded of magic in the smallest, most ordinary moment. The "K" is mine, too — it's still me in there, under the new name.
What This Actually Is
Mica Magik isn't a rebrand of any one of those three businesses. It's what happens when I stopped keeping them in separate rooms.
This isn't a place about fixing yourself. It isn't about manifesting a better version of you, or promising you'll finally be whole once you've done enough work on yourself. Growth matters here. Healing matters here. But not because they make you worthy — because they help you experience your one life more fully, as you already are, becoming.
If you knew me as Kalahari Crystals, the crystals are still here — now living inside something bigger, alongside the stories and the reflection and the little sparks of wonder that were always sitting right next to them. If you knew me from All the Books Read, the books are still here too. If you found me through Aletheia, so is the reflection work. Nothing got left behind. It just finally got to live in the same room.
Come Wonder With Us
I don't have this all figured out, and I'm not pretending to. What I have is a crystal on my windowsill, a stack of books I can't stop recommending, a habit of noticing the moon, and a genuine belief that magic isn't something you have to earn or unlock — it's something already in you.
If any part of this feels like your kind of layered, come sit with us for a while. The Collective is a free space for exactly this — the noticing, the becoming, the small reminders that you and your life are worth paying attention to.
You don't have to earn your magic. You just have to notice it.
